PBA Playoff Commissioners Cup 2024

The PBA Playoff Picture Is Heating Up! Five teams compete for the final three spots

The competition for the final three PBA playoff 2024 positions heats up as the Commissioner’s Cup returns after the Christmas break. Magnolia Chicken Timplados, Phoenix Super LPG, Meralco, San Miguel, and Barangay Ginebra have already secured their places in the next round, leaving five teams to compete for the remaining three slots. The remaining games will be crucial in determining the fate of this tight quarterfinal competition.

Northport (5-4)

After a solid start to the conference, the Batang Pier have slipped in their past two games, falling a game behind fourth-placed San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra. With two games remaining, including a vital encounter against Ginebra on Sunday after their showdown against Blackwater on Friday, a win over the Bossing could guarantee NorthPort a position in the quarterfinals.

TNT Tropang Giga (4-5)

The Tropang Giga are now in seventh place, having lost their past two games. During the Christmas break, TNT had an import change, with Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson replacing his younger brother Rondae. TNT hopes to win a playoff berth against Rain or Shine on Friday and Phoenix Super LPG on January 14.

Rain or Shine (4-5)

Rain or Shine has emerged as the league’s most in-form squad, now tied with TNT after four consecutive victories. Notably, they have handed Magnolia its lone loss in the Commissioner’s Cup thus far. On Friday, the Elasto Painters will meet the Tropang Giga in a game with playoff implications. On January 14, Rain or Shine will conclude the elimination round against Converge.

NLEX Road Warriors (3-6)

The Road Warriors are on the outside looking in, sitting in ninth place with a 3-6 record. Following a game against Converge on January 10, NLEX will face Barangay Ginebra on January 13 at Legazpi City.

Terrafirma (2-7)

Despite a six-game losing run, the Dyip are still in the hunt, but their destiny is not entirely in their own hands. TerraFirma faces a difficult road to the playoffs with games against San Miguel on Sunday and Meralco on January 12.

As these clubs compete for a playoff spot, each game becomes critical in determining their postseason fate. Who will join the top seed on PBA Commissioners Playoff Spot?
