The Terrafirma Dyip’s current head coach is Johnedel Cardel. He was a professional Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) basketball player from 1993 to 1997. He was born in Mandaluyong, Philippines, and is 53 years old.
Cardel attended De La Salle University and San Sebastian College – Recoletos in college. He won two UAAP championships with De La Salle. He also won the PBL six times.
The PBA selected Cardel in the third round of the 1993 draft. He had stints with the Sta. Lucia Realtors, Shell Rimula X, and San Miguel Beermen. In 1994, he won the PBA title with San Miguel.
Cardel went on to become a coach after finishing his playing career. He has coached many PBA D-League teams, including the Batang Pier, NLEX Road Warriors, and Terrafirma Dyip. He was also the Philippine national team’s head coach at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Cardel is a complicated and harsh coach. He is well-known for his focus and attention to detail. He is also an excellent communicator and motivator. He is attempting to lead Terrafirma Dyip to their first PBA title.
