June Mar Fajardo Leads PBA MVP Race

June Mar Fajardo Leads PBA MVP Race - Record for 8th Title

June Mar Fajardo maintains his dominance in the PBA by becoming the frontrunner in the race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, with the prospect of winning a record eighth MVP championship. At the halfway point of the season, the 34-year-old veteran posts impressive stats, establishing himself as a powerful force on the court.

Fajardo’s outstanding performance throughout the season is reflected in his statistical points average, which is an incredible 40.9 SPs, anchored by notable contributions in numerous aspects of the game. Fajardo leads all local players with an average of 16.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game, as well as 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals, demonstrating his all-around ability.

Christian Standhardinger of Barangay Ginebra is closely trailing Fajardo with an SPs average of 35.7, fuelled by solid scoring, rebounding, and playmaking efforts.

Notably, Fajardo’s teammate CJ Perez, who was just named the Best Player in the Conference, is currently third in the MVP race. Perez’s excellent stats, including 16.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, contribute to his SPs average of 35.4.

Other challengers in the race were NorthPort’s Arvin Tolentino and TNT’s Calvin Oftana, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, after impressive performances throughout the season.

Despite his outstanding performances on the court, Fajardo could only satisfy the minimal criterion of playing 70% of the games after the conclusion of the semifinals, preventing him from being eligible for the Best Player of the Conference title in the most recent Conference.

Fajardo is currently nursing a calf injury incurred during the Finals series versus Magnolia; therefore, his availability in forthcoming games, including Gilas Pilipinas 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, is doubtful. However, his selection in Gilas Pilipinas four-year program demonstrates his unwavering devotion to serving the country despite occasional injury-related obstacles.
