Tim Cone Sets Tone to Start Gilas we stick together

Gilas Training Camp Kickoff - Tim Cone Emphasized Unity

Gilas Pilipinas’ head coach, Tim Cone, established a firm tone for the team’s training camp on Day 1 at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna. With only a week until their vital matches in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers against Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei, Cone needed to highlight the significance of team togetherness and perseverance.

Cone addressed the group frankly, expressing his confidence in the team’s future and recognizing them as the country’s most vital assets. “We feel you guys are our best guns,” he said, emphasizing the need for teamwork and unity in attaining worldwide success.

Cone emphasized the necessity for cohesiveness, saying, “The whole idea is we stick together.” He underlined the necessity of overcoming obstacles and failures as a team, even though they were unavoidable.

We want to stay together. “We will battle through all of our issues,” Cone informed the players, setting the tone for a focused and determined training camp. Recognizing that success is often accompanied by setbacks and adversity; Cone advised the team to persevere and remain unyielding in their quest for greatness.

Ten players from the Gilas Pilipinas 12-man roster attended the training camp, featuring standouts like AJ Edu, Calvin Oftana, and Kai Sotto. In addition, Barangay Ginebra stars Ralph Cu and Don Gumaru helped the squad prepare.

Despite the absence of major players such as June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez, who were anticipated to join following the San Miguel Beermen’s victory in the PBA championships, Cone remains hopeful about the team’s chances.

Fans were invited to mark their calendars for the forthcoming encounter against Chinese Taipei, which will take place on February 25 at the PhilSports Arena. Tickets for the event were made available through smtickets.net, allowing fans to see Gilas Pilipinas in action.

For those unable to attend in person, live coverage of the games will be televised on One Sports and accessible via the Pilipinas Live app, allowing fans around the country to express their support for the national team as they compete for success in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
