San Miguel Extends Dominance with 2-0 Lead in PBA Finals
San Miguel extended their winning streak in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals by defeating Magnolia 103-85 in Game Two, giving them a clear 2-0 lead. The Beermen extended their victory streak to 11 games, demonstrating their skill and tenacity throughout the encounter.
In sharp contrast to their previous clash, San Miguel averted a possible breakdown by taking control from the outset. They jumped out to a 31-16 lead early in the game and kept their energy throughout, refusing to let up on the gas pedal.
Bennie Boatwright was instrumental in San Miguel’s triumph, scoring 34 points, grabbing ten rebounds, and dishing five assists. His outstanding effort allowed him to dominate the first 24 minutes of play, setting the tone for the squad. Marcio Lassiter also had a considerable influence, scoring 11 points, including three clutch three-pointers that propelled him to fifth position on the all-time list for three-pointers made.
SMB coach Jorge Gallent acknowledged his happiness with the team’s performance, praising the coherent and unified effort on the floor. He said, “I’m glad we won. We just played as a team. “We played together.”
Despite Magnolia’s attempt to recreate their comeback from the season opener, the Hotshots fell short this time. San Miguel efficiently maintained its advantage, preventing any possible recovery by its opponents. Tyler Bey led the Hotshots with 22 points, 16 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, with Mark Barroca contributing 11 points.
Magnolia did go on an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter, lowering a significant 44-72 third-quarter lead to 17 points, 69-86, on Tyler Bey’s shot. However, the Beermen ensured no disappointment by finishing the game with resolve and calmness.
