Ginebra Heats Up! 3 win Streak in a row fighting for Twice to Beat!
Ginebra won its third game in a row, consolidating its position in the hunt for a home-field advantage in the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals. With a 7-3 record, the Gin Kings are in a close race with San Miguel (7-3), Phoenix (7-2), Meralco (7-2), and Magnolia (9-2). However, only four clubs will receive the coveted postseason money.
Brgy. Ginebra’s most recent victory came against NorthPort, with a final score of 103-93 in the Big Dome. Tony Bishop, the team’s import, delivered a tremendous performance with 26 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, five steals, and two blocks.
Local players were also essential to the triumph, with five double-figure scoring. Jamie Malonzo and Christian Standhardinger led the way with 16 points each, with Japeth Aguilar coming in second with 15 points. Maverick Ahanmisi, who scored 13 points, and Stanley Pringle, who added 10 points, handled the backcourt output admirably. Former MVP Scottie Thompson also contributed effectively with seven points, seven rebounds, and ten assists.
NorthPort will still make the playoffs despite the setback, but their 6-5 record falls short of a top-four finish. As a result, the Batang Pier will face a problematic twice-to-beat disadvantage in the forthcoming quarterfinals. NorthPort’s best scorer in this game was Arvin Tolentino, who finished with 27 points.
The fight among these top clubs promises to offer entertaining matchups in the Commissioner’s Cup as Ginebra maintains its winning streak and deepens its pursuit for a postseason spot.
