The Barangay Ginebra Kings dominated Game 3 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals against the TNT Tropang Giga, regaining control of the series with a 117-103 victory. Stanley Pringle was a standout for Ginebra, exploding for 11 points in the opening quarter, all of which came from beyond the arc. He finished the game with 22 points, shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from downtown. Justin Brownlee also bounced back from a subpar Game 2, scoring 29 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Jamie Malonzo also had a great night, contributing 27 points with six three-pointers. Scottie Thompson and Christian Standhardinger had double-doubles with 16 points and ten rebounds each.
The Kings had a strong start, taking an early double-digit lead, but the Tropang Giga crawled back into the game thanks to the efforts of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jayson Castro. At halftime, the score was tied at 57-all. However, the Kings pulled away in the second half, building a double-digit lead again. The Tropang Giga tried to mount a comeback but failed to keep up with the Kings’ offensive firepower.
Ginebra moved within two wins of a Governors’ Cup three-peat with this win. They now lead the series 2-1 and will try to take a commanding 3-1 lead in Game 4 on Sunday. The Kings’ shooting was particularly impressive, as they made 18 three-pointers out of 32 attempts. Meanwhile, TNT struggled from beyond the arc, only making 11 of their 29 shots.
