Guiao began teaching after finishing his playing career. In 1998, he joined the Shell Turbo Chargers as an assistant coach. In 2000, he was named head coach of the team. In 2001, he guided the Turbo Chargers to the PBA finals, where the San Miguel Beermen defeated them.
Guiao was employed by Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in 2006. In 2012, he guided the squad to its first championship. In 2016, they won their second championship.
