TNT Tropang Giga's Pogoy to Miss PBA Season Kickoff Due to Health Condition
In a significant setback for the TNT Tropang Giga, top player Roger Pogoy will miss the start of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup. The absence is due to Pogoy’s chronic health issue, which, according to Tropang Giga’s team manager and interim coach, Jojo Lastimosa, might keep him out for three to six months. His return date is determined by how well his body reacts to therapy and rehabilitation.

Team authorities have not revealed the nature of Pogoy’s illness, leaving supporters and basketball lovers in the dark. Pogoy’s prior setback occurred when he could not obtain medical clearance to participate in Gilas Pilipinas‘ campaign during the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Pogoy was believed to have had a worrying event, falling at his house soon before the Asiad preparations began. This incident demanded prompt medical treatment and a battery of diagnostic testing.
However, Pogoy’s health troubles are not the only challenges confronting the Tropang Giga as they prepare for the season’s start on November 5. The squad is also dealing with rehabilitating two crucial big men, Justin Chua and Poy Erram, who are recovering from knee injuries.
TNT has undertaken intentional roster changes in response to these problems. Lervin Flores was promoted from the franchise’s PBA 3×3 squad, promising rookies Henry Galinato and Jewel Ponferada were acquired in a trade with Rain or Shine, and free agent Kim Aurin was signed. These changes are intended to boost the team’s lineup without key players.
The Tropang Giga will benefit from the return of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Hollis-Jefferson earned the Season 47 Governors’ Cup title, defeating incumbent champion Barangay Ginebra last April. His presence gives the club optimism as they face a difficult start to the PBA season.
