Coach Jamike Jarin Remain Unfazed After The Game in PBA Semifinals!
After experiencing the heat of the semifinals, Phoenix coach Jamike Jarin stays upbeat as his team prepares for Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup versus Magnolia.
Despite losing to the experienced Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots in the first game in the playoffs, the young Phoenix Super LPG team showed tenacity. Jarin showed no dissatisfaction in his post-match interview with the media on January 25, 2024. Instead, he praised his young players for winning a courageous battle against the conference’s top club, eventually falling 82-79 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jarin admitted feeling disappointed after the loss, although he was overall pleased with the team’s effort. “You cannot be content after a loss. You’re not upset; you’re just a little sad because you had the potential to win,” he said, expressing his pride in the league’s youngest squad and how they outperformed expectations by battling hard with the number one seed.
Despite the sadness, Jarin attributed the team’s defeat to a lack of experience, which was evident against their more experienced opponents. Only Jason Perkins, RJ Jazul, and RR Garcia remained from the 2020 Philippine Cup bubble’s Phoenix side, who advanced to the semifinals.
Jarin had intentionally begun young talents such as Ricci Rivero, Raffy Verano, and Chris Lalata to prepare for the task. “I simply wanted to let everyone know that I trust every one of them. They contributed. They jumpedstarted our game; therefore, it was perfect,” Jarin said, emphasizing the significance of providing postseason experience to his growing team.
Jarin expressed faith in his team’s ability to progress as they prepare for Game 2 on January 26, 2024, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. “Everybody had a semifinal experience. “A little fine-tuning, and we’ll be better on Friday,” he said, highlighting his youthful squad’s learning curve.
Notably, Jarin mentioned the dynamic shift for Game 2, stating that the experience factor now favors the Fuel Masters. “The Fuel Masters roster has all competed in the semifinals before Game 2. That’s all we needed. So we should be alright going into Game 2,” he stated.
Fans may watch the game at 8 p.m. on A2Z, PBA Rush, and the Pilipinas Live app as the squad prepares for the critical showdown. The Phoenix Super LPG team is eager to rebound and demonstrate the lessons acquired during their first playoff appearance.
