La Salle vs PSP Face-Off: A Crucial Tiff in 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup

EcoOil-La Salle, the reigning champion and PSP Gymers, will attempt to recover from their recent defeats in the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup. The game will occur at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Both teams are coming off painful losses but are determined to bounce back in this face-off. La Salle experienced a heartbreaking loss against Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda, losing 92-89 in the game’s final seconds. On the other hand, PSP was defeated by the debutant Perpetual, 82-79, on Tuesday.

Despite the absence of Mike and Ben Phillips due to their Gilas Pilipinas commitments and new head coach Topex Robinson who is currently in the United States, the Green Archers remain optimistic about their chances. La Salle recognizes that building good habits and knowing their roles is critical, especially with young players still getting acclimated. Deputy mentor Gian Nazario believes the team’s veterans will provide much-needed support.

Mark Nonoy, Kevin Quiambao, and Evan Nelle will lead the team without the Phillip brothers.

For PSP, the focus is on building chemistry and providing more opportunities for their younger players. Coach John Paolo Lao is still adjusting and intends to give his players more playing time to help them acclimate. He will rely on Jayvee Dela Cruz and seasoned professional Val Acu? to lead the team.
