Eye Catching Prospect Justin Baltazar Decides to sit out PBA Rookie Draft
After defeating their opponents in the decisive game of their semifinal series at Smart Araneta Coliseum, San Miguel Beer and TNT Tropang Giga earned the chance to play each other in the defending 2022 PBA Philippine Cup Finals. Both teams performed admirably in their most recent game, which further establishes that they are deserving of a fight to begin the best-of-seven series.

San Miguel Beermen
To seal a position in the league’s most excellent stage for the first time since winning the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup, the Beermen got out to a good start and never looked back, avoiding a similar meltdown they suffered in a shocking Game 6 loss.
The Beermen jumped out to a quick 20-6 lead thanks to Marcio Lassiter’s early explosion and never looked back, their lead growing to as much as 23 points in the fourth quarter.
“This show provided us some personality. Leo Austria, head coach of the Beermen, remarked, “This is the opportunity to develop the character of our players that arrived from other teams, like San Miguel acquisitions Jericho Cruz and Vic Manuel.
The Beermen will be making their first finals appearance since the 2019 Commissioners Cup, where they defeated the Tropang Giga in six games to win the title.
In their crucial match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, June Mar Fajardo was again a force to be reckoned with in the middle. CJ Perez ignited the team’s offense in transition to secure the blowout victory.
TNT KaTropa
After defeating Magnolia in the other semifinal matchup on Sunday, TNT, which defeated Barangay Ginebra to win the previous season’s competition, clinched the first Finals spot.
TNT defeated San Miguel in a seven-game series at Bacolor, Pampanga, and defeated Magnolia to claim the All-Filipino championship.
After leading his TNT team to an 87-74 victory over the Magnolia Timplados Hotshots on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Castro, the two-time Best Point Guard in Asia, finished with 26 points, bringing the Tropang Giga back to the championship round with a Game 6 close out of their best-of-seven semifinals series.
Returning to the championship round, TNT will play SMB in a best-of-seven series.
Best of 7 Games
In a replay of the Philippine Cup semifinals from the previous season, SMB will face TNT in a best-of-seven series that gets underway on Sunday at the Big Dome.
In that seven-game series in Bacolor, Pampanga, TNT defeated San Miguel and Magnolia to claim the All-Filipino championship.
The first game of the Best of the seven championship series will occur on August 21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
