CJ Perez Dominates the Court and Named Player of the Week | PBA Governors' Cup 2023
CJ Perez’s PBA Governors’ Cup exploits have demonstrated his basketball prowess and flexibility. In the absence of the team’s primary guy, Fajardo, the former NCAA MVP from Lyceum, displayed his ability to take on a leadership role.
Perez’s effort against Converge in the quarterfinals was unquestionably his finest of the competition. He finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and five steals, making him a dominant presence on both ends of the field. His effort won him the Cignal Play-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week honor, but his team’s performance advanced them to the semi-finals.
Perez has been a constant performer for the Beermen throughout the tournament, putting up great numbers in every game. Perez had 20 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in the team’s last elimination round game against Rain or Shine. It follows a performance of 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals versus NLEX.
CJ Perez’s contributions to the club go beyond his efforts. He has also been an important teammate, bringing leadership and energy to his teammates. His willingness to assume squad leadership in Fajardo’s absence has been critical to the club’s success.
The Beermen can win the tournament with Perez spearheading the assault. The Beermen’s next semi-final game against sister rival and defending champion Ginebra promises to be thrilling. Perez’s performance will be critical if the Beermen are to proceed to the finals.
